Suprematism and Constructivism
Different answers to the question about new art and new life.
Key ideas
Malevich developed Suprematism through non-objective relationships of geometric shapes and colors. Constructivist searches connected material, space, production and social tasks. They cannot be considered one program just because geometry is found in both cases.
Looking deeper
Rodchenko and Tatlin explored different forms of going beyond the easel painting. A poster, a photograph, an exhibition and an object could become a laboratory for the organization of perception. Political context is important but does not replace consideration of the specific form and history of the work.
