Framing, distance, lens, shutter speed and printing all change the perception of a scene. Staging and documenting are not always opposites: documentary photography also takes a moment and a point of view. The caption and frame sequence affect how the image is read.
Looking deeper
In film and video, meaning is also created by duration, editing, sound and relationship to the screen. An exhibition video may allow the viewer to enter freely in the middle of the show. Distinguish between a fact visible in the frame and an inference about what happened outside the frame.
